Canada Day

On July 1st, 2004 Canada celebrated its 137th birthday. Known as Canada Day since 1982, July 1st, is the national holiday dedicated to commemorate the proclamation of Confederation, when Dominion of Canada was born as the union of the first North American British colonies.

Explore this site to experience Canada Day celebration in the nation's capital, Ottawa. Canada Day is a great ceremonial occasion for new immigrants to become Canadians. Check Toronto Star newspaper and this for more Canada Day stories.

It is a tradition for Waterloo Region to celebrate Canada Day at the Columbia Lake (the biggest lake on this map) fields on University of Waterloo's north campus. University of Waterloo is the biggest university in the region and a well known educational, scientific and cultural institution in North America and around the world. From 2pm to 10pm a lot of free activities and events were planned. The most awaited event was the grand finale of fireworks. Check the below pictures that were taken at Columbia Lake fields.

Happy Birthday Canada!
